So tonight I do not feel like posting a review, but I feel more like putting myself out there and talking about some things that I know we all face.
Everyone is put in a position where they do not feel like they even deserve/belong to be where they are. Example: you sign up for an underwater basket weaving class and you are really good at holding your breath underwater, but you cannot weave to save your life, even though you try really hard. These situations make us feel uncomfortable, as we look to our right and left and see others that have underwater basket weaved all their lives and we feel inferior. All the fun we initially expected from these times vanishes as we feel like we are making complete and utter fools of ourselves.
Tonight, I urge you not to give up the underwater basket weaving class AS LONG AS it is within reason. You would be within reason to quit a class that's for students at the advanced level if you were only at a beginning level. We don't start running the race half way through, now do we?
Another word for the wise? Do not do what I have done, and compare yourself to the best darn weaver in the class. That is suicide, because you not only will feel like total horse poop compared to them, but your weaving will be greatly affected [effected? i don't know] as well. I have done this too many times and I do not want anyone I know feeling the same way that I have felt. Feeling uncomfortable and stepping out of your shell once in awhile is great, but not when you beat yourself up afterward. Instead, focus on the things that you can do really well, like playing soccer or singing in choir. Maybe your talent isn't underwater basket weaving, and that's okay. Chances are that for the other people that are really good at underwater basket weaving really have a talent for it or have been doing it much longer than you have. We cannot be great at everything we try, especially when we first start out. That, my friends, is a concept I have yet to teach my stubborn little mind.

American Psycho(movie review!)

A lot of people our age might not know about the movie as it was released in 2000, and when we were that age this movie was much too...inappropriate and mature for us. And even I did not know that the movie was actually adapted from Bret Easton Ellis's book, entitled American Psycho as well. I haven't had the chance to read his book yet, but if it is anything like the movie, I am very eager to get my hands on it! In the movie, which is set in 1987, you receive a narrative of the life of Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale), an upper class investment banker in New York (AKA a yuppie). In the daytime, his life seems normal for any upper class yuppie snob, and his narratives give you a satirical view of that type of lifestyle. But when night falls, Batemen does unforgettable things that will leave viewers surprised and on the edge of their seats thinking, "What will he do next?!" As the movie progresses, of course, things only get worse and viewers get a glimpse into the more twisted parts of Bateman's mind as he spirals more and more out of control.
The movie not only features Christian Bale, but also Reese Witherspoon, Willem Dafoe, and Jared Leto. It is rated R, as it should be for its pretty graphic sexual content and violence. But if you are allowed to watch this movie or can watch it under adult supervision, I would strongly recommend that you see it. The movie is supposed to cause you to think, so do not expect to sit and watch it and not be intellectually stimulated or maybe even confused. It's okay to be confused! Do some research and see what some people say about the meaning of the movie. But do not be ignorant and say it was stupid just because you do not understand the message of the movie.
Huzzah, Huzzah! It is not only my first blog outside of Myspace, but it is also my first movie review! I hope you enjoyed my first review! I am excited to post it (can't you tell?)!
Thank you!
